Oak Wood Cooking Splits
Oak is a lovely fire-cooking wood, but only when done right - which means getting it super dry! Oak has a high energy density but struggles to release that energy compared to woods such as beech and ash, so it typically burns with a lower flame and often a bit more smoke. Processed down to 20cm long and 4-6cm thickness it's easier for us to get them very dry, so they perform even better than our larger oak logs.
Our oak splits are perfect for authentic Texas barbecue in an offset smoker, and we also use them on our Asado grill and our Kadai firepit. Oak creates long-lasting embers, but for higher more intense heat, it's best mixed with something else from our Live Fire Cooking collection.
